23/04/04 Hill Of Beath  3 v 4 Carnoustie OVD Scottish Cup semi final

Hill Of Beath open the scoring

CARNOUSTIE staged a fantastic comeback to grab their place in the final of the Scottish Junior Cup for the second time in five years.

Dougie Craig's scored a 86th minute winner making it a night to remember. For those who do not follow Junior football, this was great value for money. All the goals were of the highest quality.

Hill of Beath opened the scoring after eight minutes when Steven Narey's attempted clearance landed at the feet of Lee Dair, who curled a shot from 20 yards past Bobby Geddes  60 seconds later. Haws Conrad Courts raced from inside his own half  firing in an unstoppable long-range effort.  Panmure then pulled one back in 12 minutes when Ralph Brand fired one in after a ball from the righ wing, This was turning into one for the history books with finishing of the highest order. Three minutes later as Lee Dair edged his side further ahead with a long range volley over Geddes head all of 35 yards. The game flowed from end to end with the Haws looking confident at this time of the match.

The second period and Carnoustie started to take control. Carnoustie roared back into the game within two minutes of the restart. Ralph Brand set up Richard Montgomery who sent the ball high past the Haws keeper.  Craig  fired in a free kick rocket from 30 yards which was tipped over by the fully stretched Haws keeper. Carnoustie were now well on top when Carnousties Kelly running into the Haws area nearly scored when his shot was deflected away from goal. Haws did manage a few visits to the Carnoustie goal area but never really threatened Geddes 86th minute score 3-3 Ronnie Kenneth sent in a shot which cane off the upright and Craig followed up to drive a low left-foot shot past the Haws keeper. Great match and well done Carnoustie on such a fantastic fight back. Good luck in the final.  Hill Of Beath can hold their heads high after such a great match here’s hoping they can get a few league points soon as time is running out.

Fife League - Kirkcaly YM 0 v 2 Rosyth Recreation

Two goals by Alan Aitken gave Rosyth a relatively comfortable win at Kirkcaldy this afternoon. Both sides were well short of full strength and Kirkcaldy's cause was not helped early in the second half when they had a player dismissed for two yellow cards collected for firstly a bad tackle and then adopting an agressive manner following the tackle.
