OVD Scottish Cup semi final Glenrothes 0 Tayport 1

What a difference a week makes, last weeks semi final was a classic this one was a scrappy affair. For the neutrals who came along to get a taste of junior football this was not a great advertisement but you get the same in senior football. Tayport had the better of the first half with Brian Craik going very close sending a header from a Gareth Dailly cross off the upright. Tayport looked lively with Craik and Barry McNaughton both went close. Tayport’s keeper did not see much of the action until the 44th minute when  Glens Martin Grant  fired in a shot shaving keeper Fitzpatricks right hand post. The second period opened with a much improved performance from Glenrothes with a strong penalty claim turned down on the 46th minute mark. Minutes later a Paul Burns effort had Tayport’s Fitzpatrick stretched to turn away the shot for a corner. Glens looked good until 70th minute when Tayport started to get back into the match. 6 minutes remaining and extra time looking odds on Glens defender Allan lost possession to Sean Christie who broke down the right and cut the ball inside to the waiting Brian Craik who hit the ball goalbound from 16 yards. Tayport meet Carnoustie Panmure in the Final at Firhill on the 23rd May.
