Every
time I visit
Keirs
Park
it is always well
presented. One of my likes is how close to the action you are and today
there was plenty action to enjoy. The Haws seem to blow hot and cold.
When they are cold they shoot themselves in the leg but when they are
hot watch they are more than capable of some fine football.
Within minutes Haws had a throw in on the right. The long throw
into the area and an overhead kick slid past the upright. Bathgate
replied with a 20yard drive which was palmed away by the fully stretched
Haws keeper. Bathgate were entering a period where they bombarded they
The Haws defence with some good football forcing the Haws keeper into
some fantastic saves. A Bathgate corner from the left was powerfully
headed bringing of a one handed tip over the crossbar this was great
entertainment. The Haws eventually broke free down the right sending
over a searching cross which was headed into the area onto the head of
the waiting Martyn Thomson who headed home from 3 yards.
Thistle replied quickly bringing of another fine save from the
Haws keeper after an 18 yard effort. On 42 minutes Haws were on the
attack again sending a flighting ball from the right which was punched
clear to the waiting Paul MacBride who drove it home 2-0. The second period was to bring a feast of goals.
47th minute The Haws hero keeper committed himself to a high ball on
the edge of the area. The ball broke free and was neatly lobbed into
the Haws goal. 2-1. The Haws pressed forward and a free kick just
outside the area was sent around the wall. The diving Thistle keeper
tried to hold the ball but Lee Dair was quick off his mark looking for
any mistakes and neatly slotted the ball home for 3-1. With 30 minutes
remaining Bathgate were reduced to 10 men after a second bookable
offence. Bathage managed to grab one back a minute later to make it 3-2.
70 minutes and The Haws were back on the attack with a right foot effort
off the upright. 2 minutes later and Martin Thomson broke free
rounding the keeper and sending the ball back to Stewart Haddow who slotted
the ball into the
Thistle goal 4-2. Haws were playing some good football and were straight
back on the attack with Lee Dair cracking one off the crossbar. 74
minute mark and Haws were running the ball down the left sending over another
searching cross which was sent goal bound with a strong header and the
Thistle keeper rooted to the spot. 5-2. Ten man Thistle never gave up
and managed to get another back after a corner from the right was driven
home from 18 yards.
Three
very valuable points, hopefully The Haws will manage a similar effort
next week when Arniston Rangers are the visitors to Keirs Park could
this be another cracker?
