North End Challenge Cup Semi Final

Tayport will meet Dundee Violet in the final of the Dundee North End Cup next Tuesday (17th June)following what was ultimately a comfortable win against Lochee Harp.

The Tayside District team matched the Scottish Cup and Super League winners early on but received a set back when Ralph Hunter netted in the 27th minute. This was closely followed by Barry McNaughton hitting the second two minutes later. At this point a big score was threatened but Harp kept the Fifers at bay for the remainder of the first half.

In the second half the 'Port always looked likely to add to the score although the homesters were not without chances. However David Evans popped up to net twice in the 71st and 85th minute to ensure Tayport progressed to the Final. Tayport's Ralph Hunter was sent off mid way through the second period after reacting to a bad challenge by Harp's Kelly.

Next up for the 'Port is a crucial league match against Oakley United at the Canniepairt on Thursday (12th). The visitors must win to retain their Super League status. On the same evening Glenrothes entertain Linlithgow Rose at Warout Stadium with the home team needing a point to ensure they stay in the Super League regardless of what happens at Tayport. At 9.15pm on Thursday evening either Oakley
United, Glenrothes or Carnoustie Panmure will learn that they will be competing in the District leagues next season.
